An exhaustive journey throughout traditional asturian music played by women (voice and percussion tunes, mainly). This is the result of new ethnographic groups’ investigation along the 80’s. The singers are members of groups L’Aniciu ( Mieres), Concetsones (Tineo), Escontra’l Raigañu (Avilés), Vezos Astures (Uviéu) and Xardón (Uviéu). Amongst them Mari Luz Cristóbal Caunedo’s voice stands out, as she is one of the best tonada singers in the region.

Apart from dance songs accompanied by panderetas and panderos, you can find offering and religious songs, tonada, “danzas”, dance- games and “romances”. Some tracks include hurdy-gurdy, gaita, violin, accordion, bombo or “ tarañuelas”. There are more than ninety tracks, altogether. Both discs are considered as basic to approach asturian sung music. They include a small book with a lot of information and the second volume encloses a CD- Rom as well, on which you can find a clip of the show with the same name and live recordings.
